At Vortex, we are building the world's first and only handheld, volumetric, quantitative ultrasound imaging modality.

Conventional ultrasound has reached its fundamental limits. To break through, we looked outside medicine. Our core technology is a geophysics-inspired Full-Wave Inversion (FWI) algorithm, adapted from oil and gas exploration. By running advanced wave physics simulations on multi-GPU cloud compute, we combine mathematics, signal processing, and neural networks to reconstruct quantitative tissue properties that no conventional ultrasound can see.

This is frontier science with immediate medical impact.

The Role

You will work at the intersection of physics, mathematics, software engineering, and deep learning, solving problems that matter.

Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Implementing sophisticated numerical algorithms running in multi-GPU environments.

  • Developing advanced neural networks for imaging and signal reconstruction challenges.

  • Designing and building signal processing pipelines on raw ultrasound sensor data.

  • Validating solutions through theory, simulation, and laboratory experiments.

Strong coding ability is a core requirement.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is a significant advantage:

  • Signal Processing (FFT, filtering, wave modeling, spectral analysis)

  • Neural Networks (architecture design, training, and optimization)

  • GPU/CUDA development

  • Inverse problems

  • Acoustic simulation

  • Medical imaging
